Welcome to Springwoods Elementary School!
---------------------------------------------------------
Springwoods Elementary School is CLOSED to new transfer requests for the 2015-16 school year.
---------------------------------------------------------

There are two local movie theaters that are now playing Sensory Friendly Films. These theaters have arranged times to create an inclusive environment for people with Autism and other sensory-related disabilities. The lights are up, the sound is not so loud, and the audience is allowed to move, dance, sing, and shout during the movie.

These showings are typically shown once per month. All ticket sales information is on the theater's website.

Rising Six Graders Tdap Requirement

The Tdap booster vaccine is required for sixth grade students before the start of school in September 2015. Please give written documentation of this immunization to your school nurse once your child receives the vaccine. If your child has not received this immunization before the end of school in June, you will need to give the documentation to the middle school staff. Meeting this requirement as soon as possible will help your child have a smooth transition to middle school.

Unfortunately, no sixth grade student will receive their home room assignment until the Middle school has written verification of the Tdap immunization. These students will be excluded from school in September until immunization requirement is satisfied. Even if your student is only 10 yrs old in September, they will need to get the 10 yr old vaccine.

Please contact Mrs. Williams, our school nurse, if you have any questions.

March Reading Challenge

Do you want to see Mrs. Marsilio get a pie or two in her face.....
our students must read 288,000 minutes during the month of March.

Would You, Could You Read a Book?

                      Would you, could you
                      read a book -
On a Kindle, on a Nook?

                      Would you, could you
                      so politely,
                      Read for 20 minutes nightly?

If you would try it, you would see.
It’s really easy as can be.

Would you try it in a tree?
Would you try it in a tent?
Would you try it by the sea?

Oh, just try it and you’ll see,
It’s as wondrous as can be.

School of Excellence
   Springwoods Designated 2014
          School of Excellence

Our students have the distinction of attending a newly named PWCS School of Excellence. This is the 14th consecutive year Springwoods has earned the coveted title.

School of Excellence is the highest recognition awarded to schools by the PWCS School Board. It signifies high levels of performance on state accreditation, Annual Measurable Objectives, and in moving toward the goals of the Division’s Strategic Plan.

Congratulations to everyone who helped to earn this important indicator of student success.
