Baby Chicks
Springwoods Elementary School has taken part in a chick-hatching project using 4-H embryology curriculum. This is the fourth year we have been fortunate to bring the Chicken Embryology project to Springwoods.  Mrs. McKee's third grade class and Mrs. Bradish's first grade class have been caring for 18 chicken eggs each for the last three weeks.  We are super EGGS-CITED to announce that for the first time ever, we have been able to create a live feed on one of the incubators.  Chicks take 21 days to hatch and Day 21 of the project is Monday, April 27th.  However, sometimes chicks will hatch as early as Day 20.  We welcome our Springwoods community to click here to monitor the process of the chicks through a live web cam.  If you are lucky, you may see a chick or two hatch on Sunday.

5th Grade Memories
It is hard to believe that our fifth graders will soon be ending their time at Springwoods.  We would like to take a moment during the traditional Fifth Grade Breakfast and Promotion Ceremony to share in these memories.  Fifth grade parents please click here to find out how you can help make this an exciting and special project for our students.

School of Excellence Assembly

Chinn Park Regional Library Contest
Congratulations to Joseph Hughes (Kindergarten) and Malia Sarmac (Third Grade) on being named semifinalists at the Chinn Park Regional Library bookmark contest.    Each entry had to create a bookmark that reflected the book Pirate vs Pirate.  Over 400 bookmarks were submitted and just 10 entries per grade level were selected.  Winning bookmarks are on display at the Chinn Library.  We are very proud of our two winners.  Great Job!!

Rising Six Graders Tdap Requirement

The Tdap booster vaccine is required for sixth grade students before the start of school in September 2015. Please give written documentation of this immunization to your school nurse once your child receives the vaccine. If your child has not received this immunization before the end of school in June, you will need to give the documentation to the middle school staff. Meeting this requirement as soon as possible will help your child have a smooth transition to middle school.

Unfortunately, no sixth grade student will receive their home room assignment until the Middle school has written verification of the Tdap immunization. These students will be excluded from school in September until immunization requirement is satisfied. Even if your student is only 10 yrs old in September, they will need to get the 10 yr old vaccine.

Please contact Mrs. Williams, our school nurse, if you have any questions.
